Adulteration of apple juice is not uncommon. Most often, juices from concentrate are mislabeled as direct press apple juices, or conventional apple juices are declared to be organic. A new approach using UHPLC-HRMS (ultra-high performance liquid chromatography combined with high resolution mass spectrometry) is able to detect adulteration with high probability and reproducibility. The method needs to be investigated further; so far the results look promising for the detection of adulterated apple juice.
