IOFI (International Organization of the Flavor Industry) and IFRA (The International Fragrance Association), the global associations for the flavor and fragrance industries, have launched a sustainability charter.

The charter was developed based on a life cycle approach for 5 areas of focus:  responsible sourcing, reduction of environmental footprint, product safety, employee well being and greater supply chain transparency.  For now, the charter is a voluntary commitment designed to strengthen sustainability strategies already underway by many member companies.  One goal of the charter is to improve partnerships among companies and also enhance collaboration with NGOs, political organizations, and consumers in general.
