Flavoring Substances No Longer Supported by EFSA

Earlier this month IOFI (International Organization of the Flavor Industry) announced that eight substances will no longer be supported for further evaluation by EFSA (European Food Safety Authority).  The substances are ones that have had no significant volume reported for the regular global poundage survey, and no companies have expressed specific interest in these substances (except mintlactone).  Therefore, it is expected that their removal from the EU Union List of Flavoring Substances will have no significant global business implications.  The European Union is currently preparing the withdrawal of these substances.
