FSANZ Issues Standards for Infant Formula

On April 19, 2021, the FSANZ (Food Safety Australia New Zealand) Federal Register Legislation published regulatory standards on Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code “Infant Formula Products” Standard 2.9.1.  The standard has been amended to omit and substitute section 2.9.1-7 “Restrictions on addition to infant formula product of inulin-type fructans and galacto-oligosaccharides”.  The standard regulates general compositional requirements for infant formula, follow-on formula, and formula for special dietary use.  It also sets forth requirements for packaging and labeling.  The standard took effect in late March 2021.
