Ground Beef Recall

On January 7, the USDA announced a recall of more than 28,000 pounds of ground beef that was produced on December 20, 2021.  The beef was produced by Interstate Meat Distributors because it may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 which is a particularly nasty strain of E. coli. The ground beef was distributed to grocery stores and other retailers in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. The foodborne pathogen was discovered after a random sample of ground beef was submitted to a third-party lab for testing. The USDA followed up with its own testing and confirmed the results are valid.
