Labelling Gin in Ireland

On June 18, 2020 the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) released new guidance on the labeling of gin and gin products in Ireland.  The focus of this guidance is to ensure correct marketing, terminology and labeling for gin and gin products as governed by Article 16 of Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 on general food law.

Spirits are also subject to the provisions of the specific spirit drinks legislation which was updated by Regulation (EU) No 2019/787 and comes into force in May 2022.  The guidance will ensure that gin and gin products produced in Ireland are labeled correctly and do not mislead consumers.  Decernis provides both systems and consulting expertise for all spirit types across 200+ markets.
