Last month, Malaysia released the second circular related to Halal certification in 2020.  The Malaysian Halal Certification Procedure Manual (Domestic) 2020, Malaysian Halal Management System 2020 will be implemented on January 1, 2021.  Immediate enforcement is expected.  These two documents are the main references for Malaysian halal certification and include certification procedures, internal control requirements and halal standards.  They were updated to strengthen existing requirements and standards and to facilitate the ease and consistency of halal audits.  The new halal management system also ensures appropriate references of competent authorities and applicants.
