Microplastics Study of the Chesapeake Bay granted $1 Million for STEM Research

Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, received a $1 million grant for STEM research for the investigation of the impact of microplastics on maritime life, using the Chesapeake Bay as a showcase. Microplastics, particles of less than 5 millimeters, can be found in water samples around the Bay including rivers and streams, potentially affecting wildlife, plants and microorganisms, and work as a carrier for other man-made substances.
