Good news on recycling and sustainability: many pilot projects for chemical recycling of plastic waste are on the way and showing progress. Unsorted mixed plastic waste can be recycled with the chemical method, which yields new resin as raw material for polymers. There is a much better potential for larger scale operations than with mechanical recycling alone. Not too surprising are the limitations due to higher cost than raw materials from crude oil.
