New USDA Rules Target Big Meat

The Biden administration continues to target Big Meat with new USDA rules issued last week. The USDA rules are intended to spur the economy and provide competitive pricing. The US Department of Agriculture says the new rules are designed to help small farmers and independent processors compete and reduce dominance of the big four meat producers. The USDA is proposing new standards that require more transparency based on antitrust legislation such as the Packers and Stockyards Act of 1921. There will be a 60-day comment period before the new rules are released.
