Parasitic Infections - an ongoing issue in all Parts of the World

Parasitic infections are still present in many parts of the world, including developed countries, where they are disproportionally affecting impoverished people. In the US, the five major neglected parasitic infections include Chagas disease, cysticercosis, toxocariasis, toxoplasmosis, and trichomoniasis. They are called “neglected” due to their link to poor or neglected populations. These diseases can become chronic and disabling with severe consequences for health and life at a later point.
