Recently some of the world’s largest food companies and grocers have urged commodity suppliers to minimize or cease trading soybeans associated with deforestation in the Cerrado region of Brazil.  This region is known for its biodiversity.  This region is a significant global source of soy.  Many companies are asking for verification and reporting systems to help protect the region, and there is discussion around an end date for deforestation.  Soy is used in many common ingredients and consumer products.
