Taiwan FDA Initiates Ice Cube Inspection Project

Ice cubes have more widespread use in Taiwan now, particularly during the summer to cool drinks.  Earlier this month, the Taiwan FDA initiated the 2021 Inspection Project for Ice Cubes to ensure the sanitation and safety of ice cubes for consumers.  TFDA will work with local health bureaus to improve safety and sanitation management.  Inspection items will focus on the registration requirements for food businesses, product liability insurance, self-management of traceability, and transport control.  Ice cube products will be checked for labeling and hygiene compliance.  This project is done under the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation and business that do not comply will be punished by law.
