The Environmental Impact of Food Production

Global food production, including land-use, agricultural activities, transport and packaging account for one third of green-house emissions, according to a report by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). However, within 15 years, the emissions decreased by one third on a per capita basis, but more work needs to be done along the entire supply chain, including fertilization, livestock management, transportation, cold-chains and last but not least food waste.
