US Alcohol Consumption Guidelines to Be Reviewed

For several decades US government advice on diet and health have included evidence-based guidelines for moderate adult alcohol consumption for those who choose to drink.  This year a group of academics has become involved in the review of this guidance and may be looking to dramatically changed the established guidelines in this area.  Under the new approach, a group seeks to change the definition of moderate drinking. Under the new guidelines, an adult American man who chooses to have two drinks at dinner or two drinks without a meal would be labeled an excessive drinker.  This discussion seems to be a matter of politics and science intersecting.
